PAGASA issued tropical cyclone warning at 10:30AM indicating the location of the storm(MARIO) center and it moves toward Northern Luzon at 24 kph speed.
In their website update, PAGASA stated that the location of center of tropical mario or internationally named 'Fung-Wong' is at 477 km East of Virac, Catanduanes with its coordinates 13.8°N, 128.7°E.

Additionally, the storm has a maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph and maintained wind strength of 5 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

PAGASA expected the Storm Mario shall be in: (As shown below image)
Friday morning(Sept. 19):
  • 172 km East of Casiguran, Aurora
Saturday morning(Sept.20):
  • 97 km North Northwest of Aparri Cagayan
Sunday morning(Sept.21):
  • 470 km North Northeast of Aparri, Cagayan or 247 km North Northeast of Basco, Batanes.


Tropical Storm Mario


Signal#1: winds of 30 - 60 kph is expected in at least 36 hours in the following areas
  • Catanduanes
  • Isabela
  • Aurora
  • Cagayan, Includ. Calayan group of Island
PAGASA are warned residents in low lying and mountainous areas to be alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.

In addition, the estimated rainfall amount is from 7 - 20 mm per hour (moderate - intense) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Storm.

The combined effect of Southwest Monsoon and TS "MARIO" will bring moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms in Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 5 PM today.
